The fincas are situated in the increasingly popular Region of Murcia on the Costa Calida (warm coast), which is situated in the South East corner of Spain, South of the Costa Blanca and North of Almeria. This region is considered to have the best climate of the entire country: not too hot in the summer, and mild in the winter. Until recently this area had been almost completely undeveloped, but over the past five years more people have moved here because of the wonderful climate and slow pace of life. It is still relatively undeveloped and, hopefully, will stay that way. The coast in this area is dominated by the magnificent Bay of Mazarron, which stretches from Bolnuevo to La Azohia and was settled by retired commanders of the Roman army. A range of hills stretches back from the coast, in which the Rambla sits. The new Mediterranean motorway, which joins the Costa Calida to the rest of the Mediterranean coast, is about five miles away. It cannot be seen or heard from the finca. Inland, are two golf courses within 10-15 minutes drive and the famous centre at La Manga is about 30 minutes drive. There are two natural spring health centres 45 minutes inland. Cartageña is twenty minutes drive and is very historic, being established by the Carthaginians in about 230 BC. The city was protected by five fortresses and has a magnificent harbour, with many historic buildings. It also has a full range of supermarkets, shops and services. Puerto Mazarron is also about twenty minutes drive from the finca and is a very popular venue for Spanish holiday makers, who come from the end of July to the beginning of September, as well as being a shopping centre and market. The town of Mazarron, four miles inland, is a typical small Spanish town. |
